Factors Affecting the Rotary Speed of AG Mill

The rotation speed of the AG mill has direct influences on the motion state of the materials. Because of the difference of the movement state, the grinding and impacting effect on the materials when being crushed inside the mill will also be different. The diameter of the mill, the material property and filling ratio and the effect of the lifting scale board will influence the choice of the rotation speed rate, for this reason, the worker should take into consideration comprehensively there interaction effects. Because it is affected by many factors, the fluctuation scale of the rotation speed will be very significant.

The rotation rate has direct relations to the production ratio and the processing capacity of the grinding machine. The relationship of the input rate of the grinding machine and the rotation rate is similar to the relationship of the production rate and the rotation rate. In the actual operational process, the choice of the rotating speed should also be taken in consideration the influencing factors of mill filling ratio, granularity property of the raw material, the hardness of the minerals and the concentration of the ore grinding other than considering the above factors.

The influencing relationship of the filling ratio and the rotating speed is: with the increase of the filling ratio, the rotating speed will decrease, and relatively the effective volume of the grinding equipment will decrease which will lead to the decrease of the processing capacity of the grinding equipment. When there are little raw materials with coarse faction, in order to maintain long time of grinding effect, we can properly reduce the rotating speed of the ball mill.

By means of actual production experience we have proved that properly reducing the speed will have positive effect on a series of production index such as the production ratio, power consumption and metal abrasion. In addition, we can also adjust the impact force and reasonably distribute the grinding force by way of adjusting the height of the lifting scale board. If the customers require coarse granularity, we need to properly reduce the grinding effect of the materials, increase the impacting effect and we can achieve this by way of increase the height of the lifting scale board and choosing high rotation speed. Otherwise, we should increase the grinding effect but reduce the impact effect by reducing the height of the lifting scale board and choose low rotating ratio.
