Introduction to Ball Mill
The ball mill is key equipment for re-crushing materials after being primarily crushed. It has been widely used in a wide range of manufacturing industries such as cement, silicate, new type building materials, fireproofing, chemical fertilizer, black and non-ferrous metal and glass ceramics. It can realize dry type or wet type grinding for all kinds of ores and other grindable materials.
After installation and inspection, the ball mill can start trial operation without load, which should be carried out by skilled operators while strictly abiding by safe operation rules.
Structural Features of Ball Mills
The ball mill is mainly composed of a feeding mouth, a discharging mouth, the rotary part and the transmission part (reducer, small transmission gears, engine and electric control). The hollow shaft is made of cast steel, the interior lining board changeable. The big rotary gear is fabricated with the casting gear hobbing, with the abrasion resistant lining board in the cylinder. This machine operates smoothly and reliably.
Note: Depending on materials and ways of ores discharging, the dry type ball mill or the wet type grate ball mill can be chosen.
Working Principle of Ball Grinding Mill
The ball mill, a grate one, is a horizontal cylinder rotating device driven by gears with two silos. The materials get into the first silo through the feeding quill shaft from the feeding device spirally and evenly. There are ladder lining board or corrugated lining board in the first silo loaded with steel balls of different sizes. The centrifugal force produced by the rotation of the cylinder raises the steel balls to a certain height which then fall down, thus making a thumping and abrading to the materials. After the coarse grinding in the first silo, the materials get into the second silo through the monolayer partition panel with flat lining board embedded with steel sections for further crushing. The powder of the materials will be discharged from the unloading board to finish the grinding work.
